“A picture is worth a thousand words,” is a popular saying, but a special program is helping young adults sum them up in just one — “hope.”
In April, dozens of youth attended the “Pictures of Hope” workshop. It was through a partnership with ‘New Day.’ Based in Albuquerque, the organization helps teens and young adults transition out of homelessness.
During the workshop, award-winning photographer Linda Solomon taught the group of young adults the art of photography. Solomon then gave them their first assignment — photograph their hopes and dreams.
“The kids and the young adults are expressing life lessons for all of us in their photographs,” Solomon said. “They’re not hoping for iPads or things like that. They’re hoping for those they love. They’re hoping for the things that truly matter.”
